As a compromise with my DH (me being anti-VAX, he being Pro-VAX), we have the twins on a delayed vaccination schedule.

The twins were up for their MMR and I told them I would be damned if I would give them the shot. All I have to do to remind myself is to see my step nephew, who has severe autism. He came down with autism shortly after receiving his MMR and other shots taken at the same time. So we arranged to break up the MMR, starting with the measles.

So the odds of a delayed reaction was about 10% The odds of a measles rash was 5%. Guess what THEY BOTH got reactions! Both had 103 fevers AND the rash. Then there were the shakes and DS not even being able to stand up and walk properly. It was one scary weekend and the docs telling us, 'oh they are not contagious and BTW you should come in and get your Measles shot.' Evil or Very Mad Fuck that!

I've become completely paranoid about giving them the next shot. In the past they would just sleep off their Vaxes for a couple of days, but this was different. I can't imagine what would have happened if I gave them the full blown MMR.

One thing is for sure I hope DH will seriously consider letting the kids get the chicken pox naturally. I don't want the twins to go through what they did again.

Vaccinations do not cause autism. That is completely false. I don't want to get into a debate about it since we've already debated it before, but it makes me cringe to see this misinformation continually diseminated.

Sorry the twins are feverish. (Holden is throwing up and feverish without shots!) I know some people do have reactions, I always tried to give my boys Tylenol or Motrin before shots. Hope they feel better soon!

uhhhh, I'm sorry your babes responded that way. Crying or Very sad

I'm pretty anti-vax myself Wink , my older son didn't get the MMR vax until he was 4 years old and I'm waiting that long for my younger ds to get it aswell.

Did their doctor document their reactions? Did you report them?

Ah that sucks! Somerset reacted badly to vaccines and it was scary. Jessica, I know there's no hard proof about the autism thing, but vaccine injuries do occur. I think the unexplained rise in autism (or the reporting of it) just has parents running scared, and justifiably so.

Genevieve goes to her two-month checkup next week and I'm debating whether to delay at least some of her shots at least until after our trip. Somerset was sick for a week after her first shots and we are leaving that Thursday for a a big family gathering in Georgia. I'm going to see what her ped says because I'm thinking it's a particular one that usually causes the reaction, so maybe we can just put that one off at least.

BTW, they gave *me* an MMR after Genevieve was born. The nurse just came in and gave it to me in the hospital because I was not immune anymore. I remember getting it when I was about 11 and my arm hurt for days, but this time it didn't bother me at all. I thought that was weird though.
