fyi...I'm not Catholic....guess that's why I was so confused.

I was "raised" Catholic - and I'm the godmother to Rita's baby - which is where the confusion may lay???

LOL - yes...was reading the posts this afternoon giggling - as I finally got some clue on the vein of all that...and then thought - oh she thinks I'm catholic!

Reviving this topic because TLC is doing a show about this family! Saturday while I was getting my TLC fix at my parents' house, they showed an ad for a new show called "16 Kids and Moving In" or something like that. It's about this family finishing their big giant house that they have been building, doing just about everything themselves. Hopefully they will include a makeover for the mom. Wink

The more I hear about this family, the more I am creeped out. I am not going to weed through the previous posts, but I am sure that I am not the only one who thinks that this family thrives on attention.

Shame on the producers who go for shit like this for a quick buck, a stamp on their resumes, and ratings.

Even if I did have cable/sattelite, this family is not worth my 1hrs time.

I think it's more than that. I think they seek attention in order to evangalize their lifestyle. Like, "Hey, we can do it, so can you and everyone else--here's how!" As though they're the family we all aspire to be or something.

I am creeped out by it too, since having THREE babies has permanently ruined my abdominal wall. I cannot imagine having that many babies and not suffering some physical problems as a result. Maybe she just never fully recovers from one pregnancy before getting pregnant again, so she doesn't have any idea what's going on in there????

Are you really surprised? I remember catching an ad for ET on network tv last summer I think talking about how they were following Mary Kay Louternau (sp?) as she planned her wedding. To the student she had an affair with, when he was like 13. Do I think these people with 16 kids are crazy? Hell yes. But they're not doing anything illegal, and with media that glamourizes EVERYTHING, including behavior that nearly everyone can agree is immoral and even illegal, I'm not surprised that they're fodder for a documentary.

Oh, yuck about the M.K. Louternau wedding! Sick

Makes me feel so empowered not to have television. Take that, you trendy-wannabe-greedy-predatory-producer-bastards!

Yeah, I may go over the top in sheltering my kids from the crap that is out there. But at least I will teach them to critical thinking for themselves.
