Here's one that always perplexes me...Why is Peggy a nickname for margarite?? LOL...

I love the name scout!

Your family names are very big in my family. My name is Katherine (named after my aunt Katherine). I WISH my mom wouldn't have let people shorten it becuase I feel like 'Kathy' is sort of juvenile...like chatty kathy LOL. My sister and my daughter both have the middle name of Elizabeth. My father's name is Richard (and it has not been shortened).

We dont shorten our kid's names either. Sometimes when I'm joking around I'll call Katelynn 'Katie-sue' with my best southern twang (her middle name is Sue) but that's it.

Let us know when you choose what names you'll use. I just love all of your kids' names!

Maybe Margaret=Meg=Peg=Peggy?

I've never understood the John/Jack thing, either. Northerners! Wink

The John/Jack thing isn't a "northern" thing it's more of a religious/cultural thing (mostly Irish/Catholic). In the Catholic religion, it used to be that you would never name your child after a non saint. Therefore, parents would want to call their son Jack but would have to name them John to honor the saint. It's the same thing with the Nancy, Ann Mary thing.

I think the name Genevieve is beautiful. I also like Anais and Margaretha. Weren't you thinking about Clementine before too? I call all three of my children by there full first name and only use "nick" names when just fooling around. Everybody said people will call her/him _________, but no body did Smile .

Scout- I love the name. Actually all of the names you use for your family are great. I always have the most boring names, but we like all being J's.

I love it too!! I say it's decided then. Cool

My family is Irish-Catholic too and it drives my mother INSANE that we picked Jack, Molly and Kate instead of John, Mary Margaret and Kathleen (what she thinks their real names should be) LOL!

I like to keep it simple!

I was rooting for Clementine, but Scout never responded to it, so I take that as meaning she doesn't like it. Hrmph.

I thought she was considering Caroline but was leery because they may end up living in NC or something. scratch

Lol, Clementine is not bad but it just reminds me of Calliou now.
I liked Carolina, and we also liked Georgia, but ultimately they just didn't stick. I think we are pretty sold on Genevieve. We both really like it and it fits well, I think. And my Mom is the only one who doesn't love it, I think. Rolling Eyes

ECG, thanks for the compliment. Smile My boys' names aren't all that exciting, though. But they're ok. I have hated my name my whole life, so I wanted really pretty girls' names. I like very feminine, old-fashioned names for girls. There are some shorter, cuter girls' names that I like but wouldn't choose, though.

Well that's certainly reason enough -- who wants to look at their kid and think about that bald, whiny fucker?

Actually, if I could be guaranteed a girl, I might go for it, but kids are so effing expensive and Scott would go from bandhead to tongue2 .

I don't even know if I could handle it -- not even if you told me that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, I wouldn't be offended, but I sure as hell wouldn't believe you in this instance either!!! Wink Wink Wink

I have to say though, that phrase "family way" has me ROFLMAO! That is the funniest thing I've heard all year! thumbright Who are you? Laura Ingalls??

Laughing For all I know, maybe he thinks you can handle twins!

When I was pregnant for what seemed like the millionth time in 4 years, a parent at my school asked me if I was "in a family way" yet again. I was like "Wtf does she mean???". scratch Someone had to fill me in on the lingo.

So true. That's why my ass is going back to work in August. I don't like being poor!!

edited to add: I know what you mean about if you were guaranteed a girl you'd go for it. If I was guaranteed a boy I would for sure have another one too. blob2

Yeah, isn't that a really, really old term they used to use because they couldn't say "pregnant", it was like a naughty word or something...?
