Yea! I did great this week. Let's recap:
I had a complete huge holiday meal on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (with 3 kinds of starch -- bangin'!)
Picked at about 5 pounds of leftover ham
Ate numerous Hershey's Chocolate Mint Kisses
Copious consumption of cheese/crab/artichoke dip
On second thought, let's take this up again next week.......... |

Just one diet coke???
I ate 39484585747 baked goods at my mother in law's house. OMG. I might weigh as much as I did before I actually birthed the baby. I am too scared to get on the scale!
BUT.. I now have a new IPOD and new musical inspiration to work out my fat ass. I have exercised for 30 minutes/day for the past 3 days and have been doing ok on water too.
We are going to Florida in a few weeks and it would be nice to have some summer clothes that fit. And those with a stretchy panel in front don't count! |

By the Grace of Whatever-Divine-Spirit-Is-Out-There, my MIL/FIL who are avid cooks decided to sit it out this year.
We still had our traditional Christmas Eve seafood meal with baked scallops, bakala (sp), and whole wheat spaghetti.
Christmas day was dijon salmon fillets, with salad
Boxing Day was pizza (we ran out of food).
I was miserable missing out of my MIL famous dark chocolate peanut butter balls and other goodies. Even while making the graham cracker houses with the twins I did not eat much of the decorations.
So despite the occasional indulgences here and there, I still lost one pound...grand total is 2lbs.
130lb - 2lb = 28lbs to go! |

I'm doing okay on the food thing, been drinking coffee again though. BUT, I have been drinking large amounts of water to make up for it. No exercizing, I have been sooooo busy. Even though I'm on break from school I'm still in the middle of my online bio202 class and it's kicking my ass.
I realize that the best diet technique is for me to stay on this nuvaring. I mean, it makes me damn nauseated all the time so I can't even eat that much. And I have heartburn all the time (probably shouldn't be engaging in wine or beer drinking during all the festivities) which causes me to puke if I eat too much.
I really need to start exersizing again. |

Things are going to buckle down here very quickly.
We had a home nurse call lady come over for the screening stuff for life insurance. Dh's blood pressure was through the roof. She checked in four times in each arm and said that he is on the verge of a stroke. WTF?!!!!
Dh has always been the one to put a damper on me getting my arse in gear...baking all these yummy sweets and stuff...telling me I'm just fine, etc. Well. This has finally knocked some sense into him and we are going to get serious about eating and working out together. |

| Holy shit! Well, I would think he's young enough to turn that around quickly with some dieting and exercise. Good luck! |

Becky, this was just yesterday afternoon. Dh will be getting into the doc ASAP, but we need to find one first. We have not had medical insurance until today (three month probation with the new job).
Both his mom and dad needed to start taking meds for it in their 40's. His grandma started on meds in her 20's. I guess it is hereditary.
Prescott, I'm sure exercise would help a lot. He's only like 20 pounds overweight, but since the move he has not been doing anything. Ten of that 20 is from the last 3 months. In CA he was playing basketball 2-3 days a week, in a league. We need to get plugged into something here. I'm going to check out the Y. Apparently the one near our home is really nice with a lot of kids programs going on. |

| Exercise can help though, because when the heart muscle is strengthened, it won't have to exert that much pressure against the aorta to release stroke volume. Stroke volume is the amount of blood pushed out of the left ventricle with each contraction. With high bp, that left ventricle is working really hard, causing it to actually hypertrophy, which means get bigger and work less. He needs meds asap, low salt diet, and exercise and I bet he will make a huge turn around and this won't be a problem for him at all. |
