Get down to night.... get down tonight.

I'm getting my digital SLR. I haven't ordered it yet...but I'm getting the Nikon D70s...just the camera body (I have lenses), and the remote shutter doohicker thingy, and a 1GB card.

I CANT WAIT. I think I can use my flash I already have for it too.

Now....just need to work on some lighting for winter (I can do natural light garage shoots now that I have my backdrop stand..but winter is too cold)

Whoooot whooooot

http://home.comcast.net/~emprlp/grammie.html

from a photo shoot we did for an ebay designer. I love the pink backdrop. I should have adjusted the brown one, but didn't bother.

I didn't have it tall enough so I was kind of close to Anna doing shots and didn't have a good DOF to eliminate the wrinkles in the photos.

I'll have to check that next time.

Right on! How much are you loving the camera? I have to say, I kept poo-pooing them, thinking "oh, what's the big deal", but then oh mama I got one... speaking of which, that thing needs to see some light of day, but I've been too freakin' busy!

Exactly...I kept thinking - whats the point of 7 MB when 3 MB gives you a nice 5x6 or 8x10. But the clarity is just incredible. And can I tell you how COOL it is to shoot in this raw mode!

I DO need to download the curves - I haven't done any of that yet, but I've been playing with the settings on the camera. I think this camera does a great job at metering! I haven't used the auto, portrait ones since that first day - I've been shooting P, A, S or M, and adjusting the whitebalance and ISO. I'm pretty happy with it!

I just need to figure out a workflow now because I want to use Nikon's program for adjusting the RAW images..but still prefer PSP9 for my detailed photo editing and adding borders etc.

I'm taking it to the beach this weekend. Curious what I will end up with!

Oh, almost forgot....Anna has declared possession of the "old" digital camera. I can't wait to see what she photographs.

Do you let Holden use the camera...Anna comes up with the coolest shots!

Yeah, I read some techie mumbo jumbo about how you can't even compare the number of megapixels alone. Like I think some of those Powershots have 8 megapixels now. But I guess a pixel isn't a pixel, LOL, supposedly it's all about the size of the sensor. The parallel has been made to the sensor being the digital "film", and it's like the difference between 35mm and medium format.

The 10D was actually our first digital camera so I don't have an "old" one for him to use. He had one of those polaroid sticker cameras and he did have some cool shots, too. I'll have to see if I can snag a cheap digital on Ebay...

Check out walmart! They have 2 MP cameras for 25 bucks...and 3 MP ones for 50! I nearly fell over. They are "no name" brand...but I think they would be worth a try for a child and if they suck, you can return them.

$25?? I'm there! I mean, how bad can they really suck for a 7 year old to use? Most of his images will just be on the computer at a measly 72dpi, anyway.

Thanks for the tip!
