This has got to be, by far, the most sickening, hateful, disgusting display of ignorance and stupidity and just plain evil that I have ever seen. I am so angry I don't even know what to do with myself. I literally think I could mow those people down right now and feel like the world was a better place for it.

Fred Phelps has been around for awhile. I've seen him in person when we had that restaurant in Boys Town. He's one scary hillbilly motherfucker. The sick thing is seeing his little kids (at the time, guess they're probably teenagers now) carrying around those signs.

Yep, there are crazy, fucked-up people all over the place. Apparently there were only 30 of these crazy, fucked-up people and hundreds of counter-protesters, so it's obviously a freakish fringe, cult group in which I'm not going to give a seconds thought to these mental midgets.

In looking around, I found some stuff that said they try to get people to attack them so they can sue. This guy just keeps getting better. Evil or Very Mad That is really sad that he involves his kids in this shit. I just...how...what happens to people? How does a sweet, innocent little baby grow up to be Fred Phelps? How can anyone be this hateful? It just makes me sick. I also found a link for http://www.godhatesfredphelps.com but haven't been able to get it to open.

You know what? It would not surprise me one bit if he has sexual indentity issues and was beat ruthlessly as a child. Seriously. That's how I think people start off like this, and then they are born into it because that is what they're taught.

Why isn't he in prison at least??? I mean, child and domestic abuse? He needs to be in prison at the very least.

Obviously it's an understatement to say that he suffers from severe mental illness. What a freak.

I've only read the thread and not the links yet (trying to get 10 year old ready for school today- picture day) but based on just that...this guy makes me want to barf. Yeah, why isn't he in jail?

I don't know. It sounds like he uses a lot of intimidation with his family. But at least two of his adult sons are estranged from him--couldn't they press charges? Is there a statute of limitations? He tried to kill himself once--why oh why did it not work??
