I am not a big pepper fan, but I love chilies. Yet I never handled them for cooking.
For next year I am thinking of growing Bolivian Rainbow peppers. They are 1" fruits that start purple, then turn yellow, then red when ripe. The heat level is anywhere from 6 to 9!
Has anyone ever grown chili peppers? What did you make with them when harvested? |

| We grew them in our window box in Texas. They were sooo pretty, they looked like decoration! We used them for homemade salsa and for hot sauces when we made mexican food. |

| Yes, I have grown different kinds of peppers. I think I had the ones you have described last year. You can control the heat by removing the seeds and membranes and also by roasting them. Like PP, I use them in Mexican food, homemade salsa, egg dishes, and a really good homemade piccadegallo (with homegrown onions, garlic, tomatoes and cilantro) yum. |
