Dang! Ever since my DH and I decided not to get cable or satellite for our TV have I become more aware of product and ad placements in everything.
We were not planning on having our twins watch any television and freakin' Elmo and 'friend' (gosh darned if I know who his lady friend is on the butt of the diaper) is on it! Early product preferences from our friends at the Children's Television Workshop! Freakin' PBS isn't so public anymore . This is on Pampers BTW. Then you have Winnie The Pooh on Huggies (which sucked anyway since every time we used them one or both twins would have a blow-out!)
I do not mind generic pictures, so I am not totally far out (ok, maybe, but that is another story).
Does the BRU brand have commerical characters on their diapers? Are they any good? |

If you want generic/ non-commercialized animals on diapers you need to buy generic diapers. Target dipes have jungle animals on them, Walmart (White Cloud) dipes have the John Lennon animals on them, the DriBottoms (also from Walmart) have Suzy Zoo ducks on them.
The Toys R Us dipes have some little animals on them, not commercial cartoon characters. I've used them with no problems in the past, though I think they might run a little small. I actually LOVE generic diapers -- once the kids are past the runny bf poop phase. That's what I use most of the time, except for night time, then I use Luvs (Blues Clues on those ). I do have to be careful with my younger son though, he has highly sensitive skin and is prone to rashes with some generics. |

Actually, Target diapers now have commercial characters on them. I can't remember what it is...rugrats maybe? I just saw their new display a few days ago.
I use Luvs which have Blues Clues on 'em and think they're the best disposibles by far (although Kristy think's they're too perfumey).
We use Fitti diapers when we know they'll only be on for an hour or so. Those are full on generics. |

Oh, Jessica, that sucks!! Was it Care Bears? I saw some with CB's at one Target a few weeks ago, but the other two targets I go to more regularly still had the old faithful ones. Though, come to think of it, they were all on clearance, which means that they were getting something new in their place. Ugh. |

GACK!
As much as I love my twins, it's times like these I wish I had a singleton and went the cloth diaper route.

| Jessica, I did end up switching to Luvs. I still think they stink, but if I took them all out of the package right away, they kind of aired out and it wasn't too bad. But now I'm down to just one in pull-ups, woohoo! So my Kroger has generic ones that are awesome because they can actually open and reclose at the sides (so you don't have to take off their shoes and pants to put a new one on) and they're only $6.99 a pack. I would not even do pull-ups, but they want them in pull-ups or underwear at pre-school. She has been doing some days with undies at school except for nap time, but she seems totally unmotivated at home. I'm just not one to keep issuing potty reminders, I guess. To me, they're trained when they are old enough to totally go on their own with no prodding. Until then, I have no desire to speed up the process. |

Late to join this, but lots to say
I think the Target diapers have the Care Bears on them, at least the pull-ups do.
I bought a bunch of NB and size 1 Pampers Swaddlers before Liz was born. When she ran through the NB size, we found the size 1's were too big, so we bought a carton of Huggies Ultratrim's size 1-2 at Sam's. They were fine. Did they have Winnie the Pooh? I don't know!
Anyway, when we used them all up I used some Pampers coupons when the diapers were on sale at Target and now I think the Pampers kind of suck! They have that really soft outside, but it seems to either absorb humidity from the air, or they're so porous that the piss just soaks through them. It's very weird. Her diaper always feels damp on the outside, even when there seems to be almost no pee on the inside. I have two-fucking-hundred of them. Luckily, she also has the runny poops (I guess the changes they made in formula since Katie was a baby do that now), so we change her diaper like ten times a day and the 200 won't last long. But, I'm going back to the Huggies at Sam's next time. |

Huggies suck now, IMO. I loved them with Calvin but now they get so fucking soggy after one little pee. It's too much of that gel, I think. I was liking Loves with Somerset there toward the end, even though I will never until the end of time understand scented diapers. I hate that! But they air out in the diaper stacker. Then we went to kroger pull-ups, which rock because they have reclosable sides. But now we are DONE, suckers! |

Also, I would hardly call putting Elmo on a diaper commercialism (excessive emphasis on profit) -- what, you never had a Big Bird doll when you were a kid? Sesame Street has been licensing products for years and years and years.
Hell, I would rather they raise all their money that way than those goddamn pledge drives. |

Alright, you bit me in the ass, right there!
YES! I had an Bert puppet doll, my sister had an Ernie puppet doll, of which I immediately proceeded to give it a haircut down to crewcut size.
Ah, I can smell the PVC now...
YES, Lawd! I SEE the light!!! Elmo is satan! ::just kidding:: haha |
