Ah, good point, I didn't think of it that way.

Doh! I can't believe I missed the Pee Wee reference Embarassed I bought it for Calvin out of a huge bin of $5 movies at Walmart (I also got "Diner," "Liberty Heights," "Dangerous Liaisons" and some other good stuff I can't recall). he loves it but won't watch it lately because the Large marge part gives him nightmares, he says.

I think the Jesus emails through school lists is definitely inappropriate.

I agree that sending religious stuff via e-mails at school is inappropriate. But, I think sending it through ANY workplace would be inappropriate, IMO. Same with political stuff.

All that shit gets plenty of circulation privately Laughing I have a couple of friends where our entire friendship seems to be based on them sending me political/religious/Reader's Digest "humor" crap and my deleting it Rolling Eyes I have no idea what their kids are up to or what they thought of the latest novel they read, but dammit, they make sure I'm kept up to date on the hilarious typos that appear in church bulletins across the country!

What I don't know how to handle is when people who claim to be your friends and know your political viewpoints send you stuff that they have to know you at the very least won't find humorous, and may in fact find offensive. For instance, the kids' godfather, who a couple of weeks ago I spent a few HOURS debating politics/relgion with on the phone sent me (yesterday) this digitally altered photo of Dean and Kerry in a homosexual embrace with some caption about how they leave thier wives and run off together. Did he really think I'd find that funny? You know, what do you do when your "friend" apparently feels so confident in ridiculing your political beliefs? I could have bombarded his e-mail with anti-Bush witticisms that are all over the web, or say something like "Ah, yes, it takes brilliance to say "HA HA, LET'S CALL 'EM FAGGOTS!" when you're not in favor of a particular stance." Or I could do what I did, just keep quit and delete it Rolling Eyes

I just had a thought and I don't do that much lately with my Mama brain, lol. What if when you gave out your email to friends you let them know before you released it to them that any sort of chain email is unacceptable to you.

Once again I have shown that the less you say, the more clever you look Laughing There is a line like that in Rebel, to which the Pee Wee line is a reference. But I have no idea about the girl's name in the movie.

We had a JW at my last office and I'm convinced that he just said that to get out of dumb office parties and chipping in for everyone's birthday.

He's smart.

I had a JW at one of my jobs...sure no one approached her to chip in for parties, etc....but she always ate at the parities....and brought home food from the parties...I was so confused be her behavior.

I've taken to not answering the door when they come to my house....thankfully, I can see them coming....the last few times my dogs were out on the run, and t kept them out of the yard, dh thinks I'm being rude...he'd rather debate with them, I find it a waste of time. and only encourages them to return.

OMG, I can't believe I missed this thread because I have the best way to get rid of JWs. The last time they came to my house, I told them we were Jewish. We're not, but plenty of our neighbors are, so it's believable. Worked like a charm! Wink

Recently I told two JW I thought it was pretty presumptuous of them to knock on my door disrupting my day to tell me about their God and their bible without knowing anything about my beliefs. I told them I didn't appreciate having them knock on my door and wake up my baby or disturb her when she's nursing. I told them I didn't go knocking on their door to convince them my big toe was spiritual to me. I think they're rude! I hate people trying to push religion. Ugh!

I don't think you need to go out of your way to be polite to people who are being selfish (yes, selling God door to door is selfish) and rude.

I find that amusing. What did they do? Were they unabashed?

I've never had any issues with them. They came to my door once and I just said, "Oh, I believe in Jesus as my Savior too.. Have a good day and God Bless." and shut the door on them.

I have no idea if that was a way to get them to leave or what - but have never had them back again - and they are in the neighborhood a lot. ?????????????? Go figure.

Now...I AM getting sick of the school fund raising. I had to hawk these $25 buck entertainment books door to door. And I was excited because we sold 3. I turn that in and I get a book to sell CHOCOLATE! I'll be damned if I am going around selling that now.

I'de rather pretend to be a JW. Laughing Shocked

I think that Crushmama had the right idea...since I am a jew, and we do have a mezzua on the door, I have noticed that no one comes to the door from any religion for any reason.....interesting huh? Rolling Eyes
