From Europe I understand that moral values are a big question for US voters but, it is not also a question of moral values the death of 100000 civilians iraquies just for oil? What do they learn in Church? I am still shocked 58 million people vote for Bush. Can someone explain me?

First of all, I question your numbers. Where are you getting this from?

Second of all, the Iraqi war is not a war about oil. You hardly even hear this from opponents of GWB, because it is such a weak and unfounded claim. That is not the issue at all. You're way off base here. Is that what Europeans think?? They are being fed some misinformation then...

Jessica the numbers are from a respected statistician in England. His sampling methods are reliable. The numbers are more than likely accurate. These numbers have been presented before. Our government just doesn't want to keep track and report on the numbers. Too icky.

I have no comment on the reason we're there. I just don't agree with it. The numbers though, I had to comment on.

Dear Jessica:
Are you talking about misinformation?
Before iraqui invasion the whole world knew Sadam Husein and Bin Laden were big enemies and all quemical inspectors said there was no evidence Sadam H. had mass destruction weapons, points both recogniced by Bush Administration recently.
About numbers, just get informed!!! there are many international founds that certify that.
I would like to know how many americans know that Reagan Administration gave strong support and quemical weapons to Sadam Hussein...
Jessica, after 9/11 the whole world supported US. We were all americans... Why do tou think after Iraq war most european don`t like Bush at all?
Open yours eyes!!!!

Upon further investigation and research, the 100k number does seem to be an accurate guesstimate, however, it is not w/o flaws. 80 neighborhoods were studied, Iraqi's "interviewed" for data and of the 80 neighborhoods, some, like Fallujah, were certain "hot spots". Also, it is not known how many enemy combatants were part of that group, meaning, killed out of self defense.

I thought it was responsible of the John Hopkins Center (who I believe sponsored the study) to say that the deaths were not a result of soldiers being "bad", but rather a result of occupying a country. In other words, since Iraq has become a breeding ground for terrorists, in our effort to thwart the terrorists, innocent people get caught in the cross-fire. Instead of hating America for doing this, shouldn't the real anger be towards terrorist groups??

Never-the-less, there have been a lot of innocent Iraqi's killed. Too many. One is too many, however, this is a war and very unfortunate consequence of war. As I have said all along, I hope the ends justify the means. Many people died in WWII and everybody was going around saying that Germany was ruined, it would never be the same and it turned out, with America's help, to be one of the most powerful economies in the world.

I'm not concerned about how the Europeans feel about us. Europeans have never really had much respect for Americans and there has always been an anti-American climate, whether we deserved it or not.

Bottom line, I'd rather have our military fighting the terrorists in Iraq -- eventually giving Iraq and it's citizens freedom, than having the terrorists on our soil, creating a safe haven for terrorists. Did you know that Saddam Hussein has long been funding terrorist groups?? You believe this war is for oil when our top 3, mass-producers are Mexico, Russia and Canada. Even in Saudi Arabia, where we get most of our middle eastern oil, only represents 10% of our supply. The Europeans would love to think this is about money, when in fact it's ultimate goal is peace. I think if this was anybody elses war, more people would support it, but because Bush doesn't pander to the world and it's *own* self interests, then the protest is more about Bush, which you've already alluded to.

I believe if people thought we truly cared about them, which I don't think we do, they wouldn't hate us so much for the very same actions. We don't care about people in the world. We care about self preservation. I don't believe however this war is about self preservation. I believe it's about one man's personal agenda.

I find it interesting people believe the Iraqis should be grateful to us. For what? For destroying their cities? For murdering their children? At least under Saddam Hussein most people knew how to play by the rules. There aren't rules anymore. It's chaos.

I understand why people of the world hate us. Our government is arrogant. We're huge bullies. We have had respect in the past. We don't have it now. I don't believe we deserve it now either. If we honestly cared about people we would be actively trying so save the people of Africa. This country is on it's way to being decimated (sp?). We don't care.
