Laughing Last night's show was great!! Except for the last 20 minutes of the show when I was fighting to keep my eyes open and George Michaels was putting me to sleep. lol. But as I watched.. David Cook was bowing and telling Archuletta that he was def the winner and then boom Ryan says, the winner is David Cook!! I was so surprised but sooo darn happy!!! He beat David A. by well over 12 million votes!!! I guess my measely 3 votes kinda helped lol. But I'm really happy. He deserved it!!

David A. will definitly go on and be something. I see him doing something on Broadway. He sang with my new fav band OneRepublic!! You should def buy their cd!! If you like the song apologize wait to you hear their other tracks.. they are amazing!!!

I am SHOCKED! Shocked

I thought Archuleta had it in the bag.

Love Cook though, so it was all good. It was a big surprise for me that's for sure.

My little guy was gunning for Arhuleta and cried and cried, even in bed, he was still crying, saying, "I'm never gonna watch American Idol again!" Crying or Very sad

We(my family) had all automatically assumed that David A, was the winner so we were not really paying too much attention to Ryan when he announced it. It took us a moment to figure out that it was David C not David A who won. It was a pleasant surprise! While I was watching David Cooks fantastic performances last night(especially his ZZ top one WOW!) I kept thinking how wrong it was that he was going to lose. I am glad that he did in fact win and by 12 million votes! It wasn't even close! That surprised me! Did you all see the commercials mimicking Tom Cruise in risky business? David C was hysterical! He is quite the actor too. David A. did a good job with this too! I was laughing so hard!!! Laughing Laughing

Sorry about your little guy Jessica Sad Sounds like he took it pretty hard. Is he doing better today? David A. is going to do something with his amazing talent and hopefully he will release a CD so your son can listen to him anytime he wants! Very Happy

When Ryan announced David Cook the winner, I was sqealing and clapping like a 7 year old girl.
When I saw him sing with ZZ Top, I was blown away. I told Dh "Look at him! I bet all those people who voted for David A wish they could change their votes, huh?"

The show was half-boring though. The other half was soooo cheesy. Some of the dance/singing numbers were corny. And the love Guru thing was dumb. I bet it cost a lot of money for all of that advertising.

Jennifer, ITA about George Michael. It was too late to sing such a boring song. I told DH that people would probably be put to sleep by that song, and they'd miss the final announcement.

I loved the guitar hero commercial with David C. Too funny! I'm so glad he won!

Jessica, I bet your little guy will be OK soon enough. I think Dh did the same thing when Michael Johns was voted off:
"I can't believe he got voted off. (sniff) Fuck this show! It's rigged. I'm never watching again!" (sob)
"It's OK Honey. Here's your blankie." Laughing Laughing Laughing

And last night through all the songs the contestants sang.. Michael Johns was rockin it!! He sounded good!! And he's very very cute!!! Couldnt leave that one out.. lol Smile

Oh, and Carrie Underwood.. she sang her heart out but what the hell was she wearing?!?!?! It looked like a sport coat with nothing underneath it... I hope she was wearing shorts or something under there because all the people by the stage probably got a show!! lol..

And George Michaels.. he was putting me to sleep but he looked strange to me.. just the way he was moving his mouth and stuff.. he was acting a little strange.. but that could be because he wasnt feeling well, like he said after his performance.

And the Jonas Brothers were cute!! Smile

People-

After Ryan Seacrest announced Wednesday’s American Idol results — that David Cook had won by 12 million votes — the show’s newest winner, a bartender from Blue Springs, Mo., fulfilled his first duty as the American Idol: facing reporters. Backstage at the Nokia Theatre in L.A., Cook talked about getting a serious apology from Simon Cowell, beating 17-year-old David Archuleta and what it meant to have his mom and brother join him on the stage during his winning moment. –Jed Dreben

You won by 12 million votes but do you think it may have been more if Simon had apologized last night?
Well, Simon’s apology came a little bit late for the votes but I don’t really know that the apology was warranted. I thought what he said was an opinion and nothing more. But at no point did I feel disrespected. But, yeah, I’m appreciative of that fact that he decided to apologize. An apology from Simon is a pretty rare gem.

What do you expect from the year ahead?
I actually walked into this with no expectations and I’m walking out of it with no expectations. This show is a springboard, but it’s still a crapshoot. I could easily walk out of this arena and be just a regular Joe tomorrow. I hope that’s not the case. It’s kind of up to everybody else.

What went through you mind when you heard that you had won?
That my music teacher Mrs. Gentry made me sing in a Christmas pageant in second grade, and now I’m here. The ride has been pretty, pretty nuts. You know you couldn’t write this … or maybe you can, I don’t know maybe you guys can. But I can’t.

Did you think you were going to win?
I didn’t. You know, the respect that I have for David Archuleta is very much past a competitor thing. He has more talent at his age than I know what to do with at 25. So, to be able to share the stage with him was an honor for me. And I went into Tuesday just to have fun, and so the fact that I walk out of here as the next American Idol is not a testament to me so much as it’s a testament to the other 23 contestants we had this season, and to everybody behind the scenes.

What kind of album do you want to make?
A good one — that’s the kind of record I want to make.

How did it feel having your brother Andrew and your mom on the stage with you at the end?
It just made the whole experience full circle. In August, I stood in line in Omaha, Neb., at 5:30 a.m. when it was raining with no intention of auditioning and now I’m here and I got to share that moment with the same two people I stood in line with 7, 8 months ago, so, it was a nice bookend.

I completely forgot about the whole Simon Apology. I almost fell off my chair when he started to apologize!!! Who ever knew Simon had it in him to say sorry.. lol.. in an apathetic way.. haha. Smile

Well, he looked old, but it also looked like he had a serious illness or something. It was kinda disturbing, I agree.

Yeah, I was totally surprised by Simon's apology. Tha never happens! I think David Cook handled that question very well and respectfully in the interview you posted.

"I went back home to watch it," Cowell said Wednesday. "It wasn't quite as clear-cut as we called it. And in fact, David [Cook], I will take this opportunity to apologize, because I think I was verging on disrespectful with you. And I don't think you deserve that."
