I don't think Kate would deprive the kids of trick or treating. I wonder though with some of the worries she must have living in a place where some of the locals seem very unhappy with her family, if they all don't just take the kids to familiar houses. I wouldn't want my kids taking anything from individuals who have gone out of their way to bad mouth me or my family. I would not want them anywhere near such people.
In our house, we do not allow any overly "evil" costumes. That is pretty much our only rule about Halloween. When they are teenagers we will probably let them decide for themselves but for now this is a good rule. |

I would think/hope that Kate would let the kids go trick or treating! Its so much fun!!! My kids LOVE it!!! My best friend feeds her kids NOTHIN but organic and she lets her kids go trick or treating but when they get home she unloads all their candy and puts it all away for herself (haha) and then fills their baskets with organic candy that they like. Me?...my kids go trick or treating but NEVER eat all the candy! We just dont eat that kind of stuff in our house so it usually sits around until its nasty or I throw it away! Have a great day ladies! |

| Hmm thats a good question.. I wonder if they go trick or treating myself. I know its hard with one kid! Especially with soo many children going from door to door. I would sure hope that she would but who knows. She wasn't happy when the kids were given candy at the 4th of July parade, even though some snuck it anyway. Thats a good question someone should ask Kate. |

| Well, if she did allow it, I'd bet she'd have her extra help come along. If the family can make it through a plane ride, a ski trip, a zoo outing, etc and not lose a kid in the process, I imagine they can make it through a Trick or Treat outing. |

| You'd think they could handle it, but Kate seems to make everything too complicated. Just go to people you know, knock on the doors, and collect the candy. It's free ya know, Kate! (Sorry, just kidding) |

This is a good question b/c it's a controversial subject in the Christian world. Most people I know don't let their kids trick or treat. I always let mine, but they weren't allowed to wear scary costumes. It's so controversial that I couldn't let some people at church know that I let my kids. They would be offended by it. Churches in my area have harvest parties and kids get candy there.
Someone I know from church wasn't allowed to even wear any sort of dress up or costume growing up. I don't know what the purpose of that was. She lets her kids dress up, but not trick or treat.
As for the Gosselins, it's hard to say. They were on one of the Hollywood shows last fall wearing Disney Costumes. We would have to get the info straight from them. |

| Thank You Ephesians for that info, my church does the same thing, Harvest Festival, but the kids do wear costumes, the youth group (teens) will have a contest , best and worst costumes, we always decorate our activity center for fall with halloween stuff for the kids, our biggest reason is so the kids do have a lot of fun and we feel it is safer for them, The congregation donates the candy and treats and alot of prizes, the church will do the hamburger , hot dogs and plenty of chili, I think our seniors have more fun than the kids, we have about 300 in our church, usually about 200 turn out for this, And then we do it again for other holidays. You are right about some ppl being offended tho, but it's for the kids. |

| My kids just asked about this a couple of days ago (during the marathon). I don't know if they don't trick or treat because of religion (kwim) or if it's not shown because of the controversial aspect of it. Hmmm...interesting though. |
