In The Middle, they need to use the criticism and become better without back lashing/they can offer their opinions and hopefully get some insight from the judges-instead of back and forth fighting.

Confused This season of American Idol makes me shake my head. I have my favorites, and No, I don't like them for any other reason then they can sing and have talent. I'm not one of those voters who votes for someone because they are cute or are from my home state. I strictly vote for those who I believe will do good in the industry. BUT--back to the subject--R.E.S.P.E.C.T.-- where is it this season?? I've been watching American Idol since Season 1 and I just can't believe how some of the contestants this season have no respect for the judges and can't take constructive criticism. If they can't take what Randy, Paula and Simon have to say; how will they survive in the real industry? --They simply will not and be eaten up and forgotten about. I don't seem to be the only one who thinks this. Both Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler have come out to say the same thing about the contestants this season. They have no respect for the judges and instead of taking the criticism and going back and working on doing better the next week, they instead stand there on stage with their pride and back talk to the judges.--Who are there to help them succeed and to make them better. But apparently the contestants this season dont take being coached very well. Laughing

Oh, I know, and talk about biting the hand that feeds you, the judges are the reason they're there and I do think that unlike other reality shows, the judges really do have a valid say in who they pick for the 25 finalists.

Some of them do have an attitude and they just sound like brats. argue I know at my job, my philosophy whenever a manager gives me constructive critism is to take that and use it to better myself. I don't pretend to know everything and either should these kids.

I think David Archuleta, who is my fave, is very polite though.

I thought it was ironic that Simon Cowell said Christy Lee Cook was going to go and then she did.(me and my hubs thought she should have went before) She was on stage saying something like well I made it past the top ten under her breath. She really just did not look very good to me acting that way especially after Simon DID in fact get it right. I find myself agreeing with his assessments a lot of the time. He draws a lot of criticism in my mind simply because he is not a "yes man." That is why I like him so much. If you get a compliment from him you know it is genuine. I am not sure the same is true for Paula. We really enjoy watching IDOL but I do wish the contestants would not be so sensitive. Why does Brooke cry all the time? Any thoughts? I think maybe it is the pressure but part of being the idol is having an on stage presence isn't it and handling the pressure? I just don't think she can handle it. My predictions are that it will be only men left standing in the finals. Smile

David Archuletta is very respectful. He is definitly a favorite of mine because he is so talented. I honestly feel that its going to come down to him and David Cook. David has a bit of a respect problem too. But this weeks show was heartfelt with him. Especially having is brother in the audience. I thought his rendition of always be my baby was pretty good. But I didnt think Simon was going to say so... hopefully kind words and good judgement wasnt given to him for having his ailing brother there. Because that wouldnt be fair.

I'm actually very surprised that Kristy went home. She actually did well for once! haha. I couldn't believe she made it even this far!! I was actually thinking Carly might of been the one going home because she didn't do so well. But I really really loved Carly in the beginning. Thought her voice was so strong and beautiful. But now she seems to be falling apart and screaming her music. I dont know. She is talented but is the pressure getting to her??

We will have to see next week. Did anyone catch who was mentoring them next week? I dont recall them saying.

Jennifer the mentor this week is Andrew Loyd Webber. He has done Phantom of the Opera and many many more! I can't wait to see them sing his music! It should be very entertaining. Very Happy

So last week I had to deal with a bunch of Mariah Carey songs, and now tonight I have to sit through David Cook trying to rock out the theme from Cats?! I think I'm going to take a pass...

Don't worry, Prescott. Maybe Jason Castro will follow Cook with a soft ukelele number to soothe you. hippy2

Wow, I have a lot to say about last nights epi.

Syeesha, didn't even look like the same person with her hair done up and in a nice red dress. She looked better then she sang. But I still think her performance will by her into next week.

Carly Carly Carly. I dont know if I hated or liked what she sang last night. She was my favorite in the beginning but now I'm kinda not even amazed with her anymore. I dont know if its because she screams or what.

David Archuletta.. did a good job once again. We know the kid can sing just about ANYTHING but his song choice last night almost put me to sleep. YAWN***

Brooke definitly had guts to start her song over in the very beginning. I think her rendition of the song was good. She was heartfelt but very stiff. She didn't have the range last night that she usually has. She looked very uncomfortable. She will most likely be in the bottom 3 tonight.

Jason Castro all I have to say is.. I dont even know what to say. I'm speechless to how terrible he was last night. The hair has got to go. He's a good looking kid but the hair looks silly on him. Even Andrew Loyd Webber said it was strange seeing a kid in dreads singing one of his songs. hehe.

And the winner of last night was definitly David Cook. Wow, he gave me goosebumps. Who knew he actually sang in musicals as a kid?!?! He was really great. Who ever thought he could pull that off? He used what he could and still came out looking good.

Gotta say, Both Davids will probably be battling it out in the Finale. It's going to be interesting to see!! Very Happy

I agree with you 100%.

Jason Castro SHOULD GO! I don't think he will because the little girls like him.

I think it might be Brook, not because she deserves it, but because she will never ever be the American Idol, so she might as well go and she doesn't have a wide range at all.

I love7 both Davids. Should be interesting when it gets down to them.

I actually liked Carly last night, but I don't think she deserves to be the AI. She's no David and David and everyone is just going to be compared to their superior talent from here on out.

Having lived in NY for a huge chunk of my life I have seen many Broadway shows and I love musical theatre! I really LOVE phantom and was shocked to see David Cook sing this so easily. I think he is great anyway but Wow I don't know many singers who can rock out one moment then sing broadway showtunes the next and do both well. You are usually one or the other not both. What an amazing talent he is. David A. has such a great voice too and the same goes for him. I think he can sing anything that is put in front of him and I felt so bad for him when Ryan messed with him during the vote off show. dontknow No worries David A. you will be one of the last men standing I am sure:wink:
I was actually shocked that Carly left this evening. I am not a huge fan of hers because of the fact that she has been professionally trained so I hold her to a higher standard and think she should be much better than she is because of this training. Brooke IMO should have been voted off this week. I do think it is great she was able to redeem herself but she does not have what it takes and she shows this week after week. I really like her personality though and she is someone who seems very real and nice. She reminds me of a Carly Simon combined with Sheryl Crow. I think she would go far if she could get some better stage presence and work on her voice strength a little more.(she misses notes and sings off key sometimes) I still like Jason Castro though he did mess with a classic. Really do we think he could have picked any other songs to sound like his style? He reminds me of a reggae singer like maybe the next Bob Marley! Okay I am done with my critique Laughing Have a great night everyone!
