I need 5 stopwatches by Friday. Where would you recommend getting them? Target and Walmart have fancy ones for $9.99 apiece. I was hoping for cheaper. Amazon.com has the ones I'm looking for for $4.95 each... these but I won't get them by Friday. I didn't get word until yesterday that I needed them at all.

The sporting goods store near us has them (online) for $45 for a six-pack, so that's like $7.50 apiece, if they have them in the store. Any other suggestions to find these goddamn things?

Do they all have to match? Maybe try a Play It Again Sports store to get a good deal on some used ones.

Other than that, we always go to the big Dick's Sporting Goods near us so that's all I got.

No, they don't have to match. The play it again sports is a good idea, we have one real close to us. Dicks is the other place that has them in bulk online.

I'll look at both of those places tonight. The school/PTA may reimburse me for them, but if not, then I don't want to be out $50 for these damn things, so cheaper is better. If I'm not reimbursed then I may keep them for my personal use in the future. I'll need them again in February for the next AT meet my school (me) is hosting and then Alex may do this again in 8th grade and our school may end up hosting again, and then Katie can start in 5th grade, so there is a potential for a lot of MY use for this through the school. If I donate them to the school, it's tax deductible, too, right?

Last year I bought a new pedometer at Best Buy for, like, half the price of the cheap one at Target. It seems to me that they had quite a range of stopwatches and timers as well, so that might be a place to look if you strike out at Play it Again.

Aha! Will try there too. Fucking Dicks didn't have the set they advertised on their website. They said that the online store is really owned by a different company (as are so many online stores vs mortar and brick stores). But, I think I will shop there more often just so when I'm disappointed I can call them Fucking Dicks because I like saying that.

Didn't make it to Play it Again yet, they're on my list today. I think I'll Phone First! (80's anyone???)

LOL, I didn't catch that. You know the big fucking Dick's sporting goods was Alex's accidental initiation into internet pornography and how you need to be really careful about how you look for things. He was researching basketball nets and looking them up on all the websites--wal-mart, target, dicks, and since the first two were just the name.com, he tried dicks.com and well, he didn't get the kind of dicks he was trying to get. He came to me all humiliated because he knew that we check up on the history after him. Poor kid.

Play it again is out of them, and best buy doesn't carry them, so it looks like I have to get the $9.99 apiece ones. I think I can get away with just four of them. Wish me luck. The big meet is tomorrow.

Poor Alex.
Dh did the same thing when we were visiting his parents. He went to whitehouse(dot)com and found out that it's really a porn site. If you want to learn about the prez or whatever, you need to go to whitehouse.gov.
He was embarrassed, and of course I had to rub it in and make him feel bad, because I'm just a bitch like that. "I can't believe you were looking at PORN at your mom and dad's. Now there's PORN COOKIES on the hard drive!" His dad joined in, making Dh even more red in the face. Embarassed
