| Katie is almost 3 months old. BFing is still going well, but the leaking is driving me crazy. I'm not leaking constantly anymore so I'm not always wearing pads. And of course a few times a week I get suprised by leaking. When will it stop!? |

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but my third child is nine months old and I still get caught out sometimes. A couple of weeks ago, I had to try to wheel my grocery cart out of Whole Foods with my arms crossed-- I'd had the afternoon to myself, and then there was a newborn fussing behind me in line when I stopped to pick up dinner.
I find that reusable pads are a lot more comfortable to wear all of the time (unless, like me, your problem is just remembering them in the first place). What I really do is to keep a neutral-colored fitted tee in the car so I can change when the inevitable happens. |

I have washable pads that I wear the entire time I'm breastfeeding. I didn't realize that I may sometime not need them anymore. I still leak now, and the baby's four months old. I weaned my middle child at six months and was still leaking then. Probably not the answer you were looking for... |

I think it's just different for everybody. Four months seems to be it for a lot of people. I never leak at all. I did in the beginning with maybe the first two kids, and then not at all with the girls. |

Ug. I finally thought (again) that I was done leaking during the day, and got caught w/o nursing pads in this evening. I have accepted the fact that I definitely need them overnight because Katie gives me one big stretch at night anywhere from 5-8 hours and I guess my boobs are just not used to it yet.
I like the idea of keeping spare t-shirt in the van. I think I'll do that! |

| These work well, but I would only use them selectively, like when you are going to be out and really don't want to leak through. They work by supressing, like when you press your wrist against one breast while the baby is on the other side, KWIM? |

Those look cool! That's what I do too, when I forget to put pads in and have to NIP. I press the heck out of the side I'm not using and it usually keeps me from leaking.
BTW...shy me who is uncomfortable NIP because I'm so fearful of letting others catch a glimpse of my boobie, I actually nursed at the zoo last week! Katie would not take a bottle that day and I was just like what the hell? I found a bench under a shady tree and went to town. Now I feel like sinced I NIP at the zoo I can do it anywhere I am lactating woman, hear me roar. [/list] |

| That is awesome. All it takes is a little practice and you'll feel confident enough to nurse whenever and wherever the need arises. |

Way to go, Becky! A little confidence goes a long way, eh?

I have ~never~ heard this before. Huh. Probably would have come in handy some time in the past five years. |

The leaking was one of those things that I had major sensory issues about. I just could never get used to it.
Kind of like how I HAVE to wear long sleeve t-shirts to bed or else I can't sleep, even if it's a 100 degrees. |
