I thought this would be a good thing to start up again.

I fell off a little with the caffiene/sugar over the weekend, but I have retired the tea pitcher at home and am doing fine with that. I'm getting all my water in throughout the day, and doing great with breakfast and luch, which were not my bad areas anywhere really. Well, I was probably eating a lot of calories at lunch with the sandwich, chips, cookie, and tea. I got a bunch of lean cuisines for lunches, or I bring a small container of leftovers from dinner, and an orange (with water instead of the tea I was bringing).

Dinner continues to be my hardest meal, because I'm used to eating huge portions, and I've noticed I scarf as much as possible because I know the kids will interrupt me at some point, so I'm working on slowing down and enjoying my food instead of inhaling it so I can lunge for seconds. Trying to add a salad or fresh green veggie every night, too.

I'm really not craving sweets or anything, so that's good. Oh, I tried the weight control oatmeal this morning and ate it, but didn't like it. I didn't even think that of couse it would have artificail sweetener, which I just cannot stand. Blech. i usually just eat a granola bar anyway, which is fewer calories.

Exercise: I met my "buddy" Monday at a free church gym right down the street from me and we walked on their raised track. We kept up a good pace but tonight we will need to add some jogging intervals. I noticed they have a few treadmills and weight machines, too, so I need to try to work in some abs and arms.

This is me, too. I hate that I do it, but anymore, I don't even notice that I'm eating too fast until my food's almost gone. I've been working on paying attention to my food and just eating when I'm eating. Of course, tonight, I'm eating dinner while typing this and nursing a baby before I have to go back to campus.

I had been doing really well, but my eating has been horrible for the past four or five days. We were out of town, and then we've been super busy and stressed, so there's been a lot of restaurant food in the mix. I've been making pretty decent choices when we're eating out (salads, fish, egg white omeletes-- except for the night at my dad's house when he ordered out for bacon jalapeno pizza, chicken wings, toasted ravioli and beer-- yikes), but still, it adds up. I had been down about 4 1/2 pounds, but I'm pretty sure at least some of that is back-- I haven't weighed myself this week. I made vegetarian chili for dinner tonight and resisted the urge to put cheese on top of mine, so I'm proud of that, anyway.

Exercise, I've been hanging in there with. I've been getting my ass up at 5:30 and doing yoga every morning (10 days straight now) for between 20 and 60 minutes depending on when H wakes up, and I've been either walking our very hilly neighborhood for an hour or doing this 45 minute cardio kickboxing workout almost every afternoon. School started today and that means a couple of things: more walking (I take the train, which forces me to walk an extra mile every day), and I also have some free time in the afternoons on Monday and Wednesday that I can use to go to the gym on campus if I don't have a pile of work to do instead. And I take my big Nalgene water bottle with me, so I'm drinking plenty of water during the day.

For this next week, I'm going to focus on planning meals a little better so that we don't end up eating out or eating crap, and I'm going to try and eat a decent lunch every day so I don't go overboard at dinnertime. I forget to eat lunch at least a couple of times a week, and I never remember until around four thirty when I'm starving.

Scout, have you seen this couch to 5k thing? I have a couple of friends that have had good luck getting back into running this way. Dh is on week 3 right now, and liking it so far.

I've lost 13 lbs! Woohoo! It's been about 5/6 weeks and giving up the sweet tea was not as hard as I thought, especially after putting it into the sparkpeople.com recipe calculator and seeing that it was 1,045 calories a gallon, and I was drinking about 4-5 gallons a week. Shocked I'm just now starting to notice a difference in the way my clothes fit (all my pants were tight in the waist because of the gut, now they're comfortable in the waist and too big everywhere else <sigh>). I'm losing about 2 lbs a week, and if I can keep it up I will be the hotness by summer! Wink I feel so good to finally be shedding the lbs. I started at 170 and now I'm at about 157. Very Happy

Whooo hoooo, good for you!

I haven't been doing the greatest. I still work out 4-5 days a week, but it's the lame-o workouts because of the hernia. It's the livingroom walking program and my weights (either on my back or sitting, since I can't stand and do them and I can't bend over to do push ups). But, each work out is 45 minutes, which has to be worth something, huh? But, I haven't worked out since Tuesday because I got that stomach bug. Tomorrow I'll probably get back to it.

My eating hasn't been the greatest. I do fine until dinner, like both of you, but our dinner times are real irregular because of the kids' activites, so sometimes I find myself scarfing graham crackers at 6 because dinner won't be until 8. And, we had Katie's party last weekend with the hugest cake in the whole wide world and I ate too much of it. I have to get down with it though, my surgery is 4 weeks from tomorrow and I absolutely want to lose 10 more pounds, which would be 5 pounds lower than my pre-Liz pregnancy weight. Then I'm only 3 pounds from my pre-preg weight with Katie, and that's only 2 pounds away from the lowest I got on Jenny Craig after having Katie (which sadly is still 15 pounds from my pre-quit-smoking weight, which I haven't seen since I quit smoking 9 years ago, so I don't realistically hope to see that again). I'd be really happy with the pre-Katie pregnancy weight.

Wow, you girls are inspirational! Smile And Scout, WAY TO GO!!!!! Very Happy You are gonna be foxy! Cool

I really look forward to shedding weight after the baby is born. I'm right on target with weight gain for the pregnancy so far, so I think the baby weight will come off pretty easily and quickly. But I came into pregnancy with quite a bit extra to lose. I picked out our stroller with fast exercise walking in mind.

I am a scarfer.

I have done nothing other than stop with the drinking of the sodas. I like water and drink a lot of it. I drink a lot period so I tend to drink several gallons of something a day. I get tired of water sometimes so I have been drinking lemonade made with splenda.

I haven't done anything exercise wise. I was running several miles ever day last year. I have had a skin thing going on with my fingers for a few years. I have a really bad breakout in August and then I was diagnosed with an auto-immune eczema that just wreck my hands and feet. It makes it impossible to run when I am having a breakout on my feet.

I really hate exercising. I do better when I do it very day because I feel the good effects of it. Stopping and starting because my feet are bleeding and then healed again is killing me. It is so hard to stay motivated.

I feel fat (because I have gained 80 lbs since going back to work 4 years ago) and unmotivated. Whenever I travel I lose all willpower to eat reasonably.

Not that there are any answers to this other than wrapping my mind around it. But I am just so frustrated and angry with myself for letting myself gain weight like this again.

I post my updates on my blog every Sunday or Monday, but I have lost 17 lbs. since January 1st. I have also been posting pictures of myself every 4 weeks. I'm due to do that again next weekend, unless I'm not down to 20 lbs., then I'll wait until the following week.

Congratulations to everyone else that is losing!!! Keep it up!

Congrats to all the losers! I am proud of you! I am stuck between 144 and 146 since January 1. My low was 143 last November. I still have 10 lbs to lose. I was being a work out fiend but then I hurt my knee kickboxing then have had bouts of illness for over 3 weeks. I am just happy I have not gained but I have definitely lost momemtum.

My husband and I bought our very first house this past April. The best part is that its right in town. I started by walking my son to preschool each day. Then when Summer came, we'd walk to the post office, bank, water bill office, etc. All of this walking has really paid off! Between April 06 and Jan 07 I've lost 17 lbs, without really changing the way I eat. Then last month (mid-Jan) I joined the gym where my friend and I go 3 times a week and I walk the eliptical machine between 3 to 4 miles each time (about 45-50 minutes each time, it depends on if my daughter needs me to take her to the bathroom Wink ) Since I joined, I've lost another 5-6 lbs, and I'm trying to eat smarter.
My heaviest non-pregnant weight was 174 in April. Now, I just weighed myself this morning and I'm 151. 2 more pounds and I'll be the weight when I first got pregnant 6 years ago, 11 more pounds and I'll be at the weight when I got married, and 21 pounds and I'll be the weight I was in high school, 130 lbs.

I'm keeping my hopes up, I don't think 130 is unrealistic. To be a size 10 again would make me happy. Although, the 130lbs might be easier to reach than the size 10, since now, I have "mamma hips". (I have a western belt with my name on the back of it and a monogrammed buckle in my sock drawer, that DH gave me when we were dating. I pulled it out the other day and just laughed myself silly at how small it was. I can't believe I ever complained about my weight back then!!!) I just want to feel comfortable with myself. And I just want to wear a bathing suit without thinking people are whispering "Damn! They should NOT make bathing suits in THAT SIZE!" Ha! I know, I know, it's all in my head!
P.S. Scout, I know what you mean about the pants being baggy thing. 2 Pairs I'm just going to have to donate be cause they keep falling down (yeah, I know, poor me Very Happy ), and 3 others were about to be donated last month, and now they fit great! And last year's bathing suit is huge now!

WOW Kristy 13 pounds!! WTG! That is awesome. And WTG Jessica too! I'm so proud of you guys!!!!!

Kristy, do you always stick to the calorie count in SP? I've recently started tracking calories again as I've become quite the snacker being couped up this winter. One thing I noticed today is that I was 1700 calories. I'm not supposed to go over 1500. But, I did the elliptical for an hour and it was over 700 and the daily I was supposed to do was 400 so do the two cancel each other out ? LOL! Or is that just wishful thinking?

I'm a big snacker. Just from tracking today I realize that HALF of my daily calories are snacks. I need to go back to work and get my ass OFF this puter!

Thanks! I am proud of myself but at the same time kicking myself for witing so long to get with the program, when it has not even been bad at all once I got started. Oh well.

PP, that sucks about your hernia slowing you down but it sounds like you are doing a great job of staying motivated to do whatever you can. Those late dinners are a killer, I know. I have to cook and eat dinner early or I'll end up eating enough "snack" to be a whole meal, then eating again at dinner.

HB, I gained 30 with Genevieve and was back in my pre-preg fat clothes in literally three weeks. I would really love to be 130 by summer and maybe get down to 125, which was my married-but-no kids weight for three years. That would put me in about a size 5 (I have no hips or butt).

Kelly, I'm sure traveling makes it hard to eat well. That sounds really painful with the eczema, too. Sad

Jessica, that's awesome! I will have to check out your pics. I'm having a hard time seeing my weight loss yet--I should have done the pic thing.

Congrats you guys!!! That is awesome weight loss. My problem isn't really my weight (I'm 5'4" and 130lbs), but I'm not toned. While dh was in Iraq I was working out every morning and getting toned, but when he came back that stopped and now that I'm in IL working, I, well, I just don't. My apt complex has an awesome gym and I can go after work and before I pick up Cooper, but I'm just not motivated. I did go the other day though and felt great. I've lost a pound or two since being up here though (hence the 130-yippie) because I (purposely) live on the 3rd floor of my building and I always take the stairs instead of the elevator at the courthouse (the records I need are on the 2nd and 3r4d floors and I have to go back and forth frequently during the day). I'm the queen of stairs. And I do it in 4" heels! If I got myself back into doing the SHAPE DVD's (which I HIGHLY recommend) I'm sure I'd be toned. I'm a slacker right now though. I've got to get it into my head straight though and then I'll get back into it. <sigh>

MM, sorry, I somehow missed your post! I am not that strict. I figure if I stay below 1500 some days, and go over a little others, I'm ok as long as the average for the week is between 1200 and 1500. And I know on WW you get extra points for exercising, so I would think you can go over a little when you exercise.

JM, I really like strength training much better than aerobic/cardio exercise. I make myself do at least 10 or 15 minutes on the elliptical each time I work out, but I like weights and machines the best. I can definitely see some toning happeneing. Very Happy

Hey, I posted updated "diet" photos on the blog today. I've lost 19 lbs. It's weird, I think you can really see it in my face. This weeks weight loss was a huge koo for me. It's motivated me to lose another 20. Summer - hear I come! Wink

How's everybody else doing???

Congratulations Jessica! wav You really can see it in your face. You can tell in all the pics, but you can see a big difference in the side shot in your stomach. You look great! Very Happy

Boo to the chipotle salad. I'm afraid to see how many calories it has.

Your link doesn't work, BTW. I had to look you up.
