Well...I'm done farting around with this! I got serious about it and re-joined Weight Watchers for what I'm hoping is the last time. And I'm down another 1/2 pound so that's good.
How are you all doing? I have gotten better about drinking water, but still drink lots of diet sodas. I figure for now I'll try drinking both and work on cutting out the soda later on. I can't handle too much deprivation at once.
This is going to be a challenging week for me though. Normally I work out like crazy and walk a lot, then I eat pretty much what I want and either stay the same or lose a little. But I just had minor surgery on my arm so vigorous workouts are out for a week or so. This means I really have to watch my diet this week...yikes! |

I'm back on track. Easter coincided with period week for me, so I got all that out of the way (lying on the couch, eating candy). Started back with my good eating/exercising routine on Sunday and doing well.
Oh, and I did realize something important about myself. I am a chocoholic. I don't mean that in the flippant funny way. I mean that I actually eat chocolate until there is a "click". If you've been a smoker or serious drinker, then you know what that "click" is. I noticed that I do the same thing with other carbs, too--when I eat chips (which is rare) or pancakes or french fries...it's hard for me to stop. I do wonder if since I do this and I had the GD if I have a big pre-disposition to type II diabetes. Well, enough of that! I have started seriously limiting my carbs. By that I don't mean seriously REDUCING my carbs, I mean that I measure out a serving of carbs and don't allow myself to have seconds AT ALL at each meal. If I'm still hungry at a meal, I'll let myself have a small second helping of the protien or another serving of veggies. But, carbs are my enemy right now. |

| PP...I know what you mean about being a chocoholic. I am definitely a food addict. Just like someone can be addicted to alcohol, I am addicted to food. That's why I like Weight Watchers so much. It's like AA for food addicts. And there aint' nothin' better that dark chocolate! |

| I have nothing productive to add to this thread, except you son is mighty cute, and I love the drawing of the race car in the background. |

Thank you so much! He is a cute lil peanut
The drawing is one of DH's. We got some of his childhood artwork framed to decorate Michael's room. We would have used some of my old artwork too but my mom isn't as organized as DH's and couldn't find any of mine.
I just realized how huge this picture is though...I should probably crop it a bit or Prescott will be yellin' at me. |

Becky, Prescott asked *me* to yell at ya, but I'm not gonna yell. Just a tad bit smaller would be way cool of you.
Thanks!! |

| Well, I'm kicking ass! I work out every morning, which kind of sucks, but has helped so much. I have about 5 DVD's and I rotate them so I don't get bored. My favorite one is from SHAPE. I'm down about 5lbs, but I'm so toned. I have tone and shape in my thighs! <happy dance> My abs are starting to become defined! <major happy dance> I bought new DKNY jeans (at Ross for $25) in a size 6! Woohoo! Still, the getting up early and working out sucks, but it is so worth it. |

OMG that is so funny. I just realized the exact same thing. Not about the click exactly, but that I cannot eat a little chocolate. If I eat one teensy m&m I will go nuts and eat like, 8 handfuls to follow. Same with hershey kisses. I cannot moderate at all with chocolate, it's very strange. I decided to cut it out entirely after I ate about 40 lbs of it on Easter.
I am really watching what I eat. This week I have lost 4 lbs! Whoo hoo! Seeing my flab in shorts last week really scared me. And, Molly and I were going potty at the same time (she was on her little one) and she said "Mommy, your but is REALLY BIG". That sucked too. |

| I have been really good the past two weeks! I'm not dieting per se, but I have managed to cut out all sweets and junk food. That, coupled with the nice weather will equal success (or so I hope to God that's the case!). I need to get in shape though. My tummy is starting to show it's age. I need to do sit ups, but I hate sit-ups. Anybody have any suggestions for toning the tumming w/o doing 'em?? |

I'm not a sit up kinda girl/never was tho I had a flat stomach all through my 20's. I've been going to a gym for a year, first circuit training type of place, Women's work out express/curves, and that really helped with just getting in the habit of going. Now I go to a full service gym with a pool and classes, I love the classes, the ab machines and equipment have REALLY REALLY helped. I'm thinking belly button ring in a month or so... |

You know, I used to be the ab-exercise queen, Jess. Have you tried doing any pilates? Those exercises can be a great alternative to crunches. I used to do literally HUNDREDS of ab exercises every day--a mix of regular crunches, pilates moves, and "the bicycle" and after having two kids, it never really flattened my stomach (I had the big diastasis), but it did help somewhat. Then after having three kids all it did was help me realize that my ab section is just a fucking mess. Still, these days I do some very mild ab exercises (it actually helps with the pain)--I do some serious pelvic tilt things, where I lie on my back and suck my belly in, like trying to get my belly button to the floor. I do it slowly and in a very controlled manner, and really it is an effective toner. I also do slow, controlled, short crunches, where I pull my belly in and lift my shoulders just a little off the floor and slowly down. My daily workout includes 150 of the pelvic tilt things and 100 of the slow crunches (done in three sets each). So, I guess I am still doing hundreds of ab exercises every day, lol, but they're a lot less intense than the ones I used to do.
Oh, and I am so proud! I am able to do three sets of 25 half push-ups (formly known as "girl" push ups), and 3 regular push ups at a time. I fucking hate push ups. They are the hell of the exercise world. |

PP, where do you put your feet when you do crunches? Do you just freestyle it, or do you put your feet under something that they can latch onto?
Also, have any of you tried to the exercise ball? I'm thinking of buying one of those with a video to go with. |

LOL! I just took a ball class! It was HYSTERICAL! 25 of us with these balls rolling all over the place. Sit ups are MUCH more comfortable with the ball...I've thought in the past to buy one, but decided not too because the kids would steal it and I'd never see it a gain... |

I hear ya. Between the kids and the dog, bouncy objects don't have a chance, but I still wanna get one. |
