Happy belated b-day!! Did you do anything fun?

We had Ethan's bday party over a month ago so that he could celebrate with family and his little cousins and friends before we moved. He totally thinks that was his birthday and pretty much objected to the idea of it being his birthday again. But dh and I wanted to do something, so we went to Chuck E Cheese last night to play. It was our first time taking the kids there, ever, and they had a blast. Owen's favorite thing was the machine that eats the tickets and prints out a receipt, lol! Ethan was just in Heaven. It was a lot of fun, but not something I'm interested in repeating again anytime soon. Wink

Glad that things are straightened out with the rooms for now. Is the quilt still in the packaging or do you have the receipt? I would probably return it if you could and get something equally cute, but different.

It's still in the package and I do have the receipt. I could return it. But I'm hesitant thinking that if I don't keep it I won't ever be able to get a 2nd one should the boys share a room again in the future. The boys *will* share a room eventually, within 2 years I think, since they will be bunking when a #3 comes along. Also, their twin beds can be stacked into bunk beds at a later date. So I want to keep the extra quilt for the future when I know they will be together. It's Pottery Barn, and is totally backordered online. I was lucky enough to get the last 2 at the store in Nashville, and I even had to take a display sham to get a pair of those. It is very popular. I can always sell it on ebay and get back what I paid for it (or more probably) if we don't end up needing it. I'd just keep it for ebay anyway. It is a nice patchwork, not something they will outgrow in a couple years. This is it:
Bright Stripes patchwork quilt

It would bug me to have the same quilt in two different rooms. But I can't find anything I like as well as this to use for Owen's room.

I know decorating a kid room is pretty petty. But I've looked forward to doing this forever. In CA Ethan's room was so plain. It just looked like an empty room with a bed in the corner and I always felt bad for it. Sad And Owen, poor Owen, when he moved out of our bedroom (at about a year), we just pushed his crib into our office/storage room. How pathetic is that? Embarassed

Laughing Remember when you were all worried that you felt done with your two boys and didn't want another baby? Glad that you reconsidered! Join me in the 3-kid club. It's not nearly as insane as I thought it would be, actually. It was much harder for me to go from 0-1 and 1-2.

I like that quilt! Actually, there are very few things in Pottery Barn Kids that I don't like. I decorated Molly's big girl room this summer and had great fun being petty as well. flower

LOL, I'm petrified of having a third. But I'm even more scared of having major regrets in ten years if I don't have any more kids.

Maybe once Owen isn't quite so utterly TWO I will feel a little more up to the challenge of another. Confused

I found Owen's room stuff tonight! Very Happy We went to PBK to see that airplane and train quilts in person and instead I discovered a discontinued Vehicles quilt! It was marked down from $149 to $80 and then the nice clerk gave us an extra 20% off that! And I think it will look okay with the green wall color going on in that room already and I think I have curtains that will go with it too! Yay! I can't wait to post before & after pics. sunny

and super score, the one thing I really needed for the quilt was a sham and I was able to find one on ebay! Yee-haw! And the 10% off PayPal code still worked. thumbright

um, sorry for serial posting, but my edit button still isn't available (ahem!)...

Ethan's room is very blue. Like a chambray blue blue blue. I think you saw pics? Anyway, how do you think an alphabet border would look? Not like sticky wallpaper border, but real abc border that would go in a classroom? I have one that the pics are real pics (not cartoony or illustrated) and is on a white background. The border is like a foot in width and 26 letters long. Razz I think it could be cute, but I don't know how I'd go about holding it up there. scratch

Sorry I am late on replying to this! I am not a fan of wallpaper/sticky borders so I am probably the wrong person to ask on this. I think a stamped/stenciled alphabet might cute though! Did you decide on what to do?

I repeat: it is not a sticky wallpaper border. Not a sticky border. Not wallpaper. This would not be found on HGTV's "Room by Room". Confused Laughing

I hate those! silent

It's like regular alphabet strip from a teacher supply store. Meant to be stapled directly into bulletin boards. Laughing It doesn't matter anyway. I can't find it. I think I might have given it to my bud before I moved. I know I gave her a bunch of stuff, can't recall what all it was. scratch

I used a border like that from the teacher store in Calvin's room when he was little. I think I just used clear packing tape on the back. A lot of teachers use hot glue guns to stick stuff to the walls at school, and then it just peels off when you want to take it down. I'd definitely try it inside a closet or something first to see what it does to the paint.
