I saw on the news today, that in Chandler (small suburb of phx) it is actually illegal to bfip if you are told to go somewhere else. They say women who bf'd need to be "covered up" probably meaning they want us to go under blankets (it's HOT here!) or in a discreet place. If you get told to leave, and you don't, you will get a ticket!
Arizona has no laws protecting a woman's right to bfip, so I guess this was easy for them to do. Can we say "a waste of time?!" |

I just saw that. That is a bunch of bullshit. I guess folk in Chandler don't know they're about to be covered UP in lactating boobage! |

I think AZ is probably so ass-backwards on this because of their large elderly population. The elderly on not really down with the current PC trends as much, ya know?
At any rate, it is really stupid and such a waste and downright offensive. On a personal level, I just think it's polite to be discreet while BFIP, but that's just my opinion and in no way does that equate to making it illegal, that is outrageous! Even if one isn't discreet, it is still their RIGHT to bf wherever they deem appropriate.
They'd be much more wise to give out tickets for bad fashion. That would make much more sense! |

Yeah, I think most moms do try to be discreet. This makes me worry about the whole slippery slope of what is considered discreet, KWIM? Some people think if you're not in a moveable tent, it's not discreet enough. |

Of course it's best to be discreet. But you'll probably find more bf'ing moms who agree with that then not!
And to add another strong opinion of mine, I think bringing up "but it's best to be discreet" is along the same lines as "well some women asked for it" when talking about sexual harrassment. Well, yea, you probably could find a few, but since it's such a SMALL number, and not really an issue, why even bring it up?!
Not sure about elderly population (although that is probably very true) Az is largely conservative, and that is what came to mind when I saw this on the news. |

| I think you (Kristy and Becky) are right, I never even notice women BFIP which makes me think that that they are being so descreet that I wouldn't notice. Once in a great while, you'll notice someone bfing at the table at a restaurant and I just don't get that, but I also don't like seeing people put make-up on at the table or taking a cell phone call or kissing/petting excessively -- not that I'm saying BFIP is like any of these activities, but they all put into question if someone does consider anyone outside of themselves or their own personal needs/desires. The difference is that people would be outraged if somone got a ticket for taking a cell phone call at a table, yet there still are many that think that BFIP should be outlawed. It's just not right. |

Well I am THAT woman! lol Bfing at the table in a restarant. I bother no one, so it shouldn't be an issue as long as it's a kid-friendly place. But anyway...I was thinking about this and it is so funny because their are so many public spring break spots where girls are flashing their breasts all over the place. But no one has made an effort to say "hey we need to ticket them!" no, it's the bfip moms that are targeted. So funny, and really telling about the society we live in.
Oh, and mike said he saw an article, I'm going to try and find it, that this was so controversial they are fixing it. And making it legal to bfip. Which is good for Az since we have no laws protecting a mothers right to bfip. |

See, this wouldnt bother me at all as long as the whole boob was not lopped onto the table for display, LOL! Where else should she feed the baby if she is out to dinner with her family and the baby needs to eat? |

Actually, the tables were low and she had everything hanging out.
The restaurant we were in had a beautiful, quiet lobby that I would [personally] have gone to to feed the baby, I probaly would have done that with a bottle actually because my boys didn't drink as well when distracted. I just thought it was tacky, but it's not something that I would seek punitive damages for or anything, just not something I would do. <shrugs> |

I wouldn't even think twice about seeing a mother BFIP. But then again, I'm the first to flash after a few drinks |

| I always nursed at the table. I'm no flasher, but I don't think many women are. It just seems natural to me to feed the baby (when they were babies) at the table with everyone else. |
