Well, I'm starting to get psyched up for my big road trip. I'm taking my 3 kids to Tx. and my dh isn't coming. Yep, that means I'm driving 1,200 miles by myself . Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm going to try to get some books on CD, but our neighbor library doesn't have any (only tapes). Any suggestions? The kids are 8,5, and 2.
I'm leaving August 1st so I have a little over one week to prepare! I'm about to have an anxiety attack ! |

I bow before you woman! When I made my trip to Austin, TX for a holiday, my travel guide said the best time to visit Texas was not summer!
Keep cold water and juice on hand. Lots of it! |

Are you on a time contraint? I would stop frequently. Pull over for Barnes and Nobles (if you hit any), rest stops and anything interesting.
Are you stopping at hotels? I'd try to get one with a pool and lastly, I would plan on leaving every morning in the early AM so the kids will be more likely to sleep.
Are you worried at all, traveling by yourself? Do you have GPS?? Oh, what about getting a DVD player on ebay or something? Gameboys? Not sure if you're into warping your kids minds like Scott and I are. We pull out the big guns when we travel. Any garbage that will create peace is good for us. LOL. |

Yes, unfortunately I am on a time restraint. My plan is to knock out as much of the trip as I can on the first day, then only have a 1/2 day of driving the second day. I don't have a GPS, but I am planning on getting a cell phone before I leave. I don't have a gameboy either, but I am definitely into warping my kids brains.
I was thinking along the lines of books on CD, magna doodles, drawing tablets, and snacks. Its gonna suck no matter how I slice it.
And to top it off I just found out I'm pregnant. |

Thanks DCH,
I'm really happy, but I'm also very nervous and will be walking on egg shells for a while. The next 10 weeks are going to pass very slowly for me. If everything goes well I will be due 23rd March 2006! |
