OK, bottles these days SUCK! I used to use the Johnson's Healthflow bottles with Alex and Katie and they were fine. But, they're not available anymore. So, we bought some of the Playtex Ventaire bottles and they leak all over the damn place--from the rings and from the vented bottoms. Then we tried some of the Evenflo angled bottle things and they leak from the rings and around the nipples!
The Avent bottles do not leak, but they're like $4 apiece. Anyone know of any other bottles that don't leak???? |

| We used the regular evenflo or gerber straight up and down bottles. 5 oz (I think that's what it was) size at first then moved up to the bigger ones much later. I tossed the nipples they came with though and used the silicone Nuk ones that were shaped just like the orthodontic pacifier. Never had any leak problems!! |

| We used the Dr. Brown's bottles and they were FABULOUS! NO leaks. They're a bit pricy, but I would totally recommend them. Well worth the $. |

Liz won't tolerate the orthodonic nipple. She's very nipple specific, just like Alex and Katie were. Now, if only *I* had that straight up and down shape, then maybe I would have had more luck! |

| I used Avent with Graham and Holden and LOVED them. They sell 'em at Target. They rule. |

Yeah, the Avent were on sale, 2 for $7, so we picked up a bunch yesterday. I guess that's what we need to do.
I had peeked at the Dr. Brown's before she was born, but I haven't had an opporunity since. Because when I say "we", I mean Mike. I have stayed at home giving orders to him on the cell phone, lol. |

Went with the old fashioned Playtex nursers, I have little patience in using a bottle brush, except for cleaning the nipples. We use the Target nurser bags instead of paying full price for the Playtex brand. Works great. Word of advice, DO NOT get the generic Parent's Choice from Wal-Mart (which now I avoid like the plague, anyway). Their bags half the time are hermetically (sp!) sealed and can't open to pour the formula!
If you have grandparents that can't handle the bags, you can use the 'drop-ins.' They love it! |

I used the Avent bottles when I pumped for DC and always liked them. They are pricey but I only had like 3. I mostly used the disposable bag ones, so I didn't need as many bottles. One up-side is that you can replace the nipple with the soft-sippy spout in the regular bottles when you get to that point. We still have one of those that Somerset likes to use at times. She calls it her baby bottle, lol. She is the one kid I have who really never had a bottle because she didn't go to dc!
Have you tried those Gerber New Traditions? I have seen three packs with the three different nipples (none are orthodontic) and they are wider like the Avent. I haven't tried them but it seems like some people like them. |

I haven't seen the New Traditions, hmmmm, I'll have to look into those.
We've never done bags. We only used bottle brushes when Alex was a baby and we didn't have a dishwasher. Otherwise, we just rinse the bottles and nipples out right after using them and pop them in the dishwasher!
So far we have 6 Avent bottles and are still using some of the crappy Evenflo bottles. |

I used the Avent wide with Jack and they leaked like a mother LOL! Basically, if the you turned it the slightest bit too tight they would leak! Finiky little suckers. Other than that I really liked them and planned on using them with Manda but she has other plans! She couldn't get the hang of the nipple (too big?) so I switched to Doc Browns (tall) and those worked well although much more of a PITA to clean since they have two extra pieces!
I liked the Ventaire ones and had a few I used here and there.
My BEST friend as a bottle?????? THE PODEE!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited for pics:
Here is the Podee in all its IMPERFECT glory LOL!!!!!!!!!

Wait Chris, you fed your baby through an artificial device while not even giving her loving comfort in your arms? Sheesh, what's next, CIO? Spanking? Are you going back to work? LOL!

The trick to the Avent bottle (I haven't had a leak in years) is to a) not turn them too tight b) wet base of nipple if leak doesn't stop and re-pull nippled through hole and c) let completely dry (if possible) after they go through the dishwasher.
BTW, LMAO Annie.
Chris, are you serious about that bottle thingy? Is that really Manda? She's a cutie!! |

Guilty as charged! I had to use them in my early days of feeding the twins when one or the other insisted on being held. My daughter can feed herself with a bottle now and I only have to deal with my laid back 'I wanna be a baby forever' son.
Word of advice if you want to try the Podee, just get the adaptor and use a couple of cheap tall Gerber bottles that you may already have. |

Wow, I'd love to see the reaction to those pics on the BC FC board. I'm afraid they'd hunt you down through your IP and storm your house. |

Thanks for the tips on the Avent bottles, so far we've had no leaks with them.
That Podee is hilarious. I'm not letting Mike see that picture, he'd be all over that device, lol. |
