Is it normal for them to have a language explosion at 2? Ds went from saying lots of words and one or two simple sentences to saying tons and tons of words and putting them together into sentences and saying several together in just a few days. The other day, we were out and he saw a truck and said clear as day "Look! That truck like Papa's! Papa has truck like Bob! Bob fix it. Papa fix it! I like Bob!" (Bob, btw, is Bob the Builder).
It is amazing. He tells us with words what he wants, what he doesn't want, what he likes, etc, all in the space of about a week. I knew he'd be talking a lot more soon, but I didn't think it would happen so quickly. |

| Same thing happened with Ethan, though closer to 2.5. He was still very garbled and making short archaic sentences just a few months ago, and now he is a big blabbermouth. It was not a slow progression at all. I swear, one day he was saying, "mommy. milk. cup." while pointing to the cabinet that houses the cups...and a week later it was, "mommy, I want some milk please! I want my blue cup, that one right there! Do you see the blue cup mommy? I want the blue cup! Mommy put milk in it, please! Okay, mommy? I'm so thirsty, I want some milk! Here, mommy. Here's the milk. Mommy put the milk in my blue cup, okay?". |

IKWYM Kathy!
Yesterday I handed Ethan a bowl with some "Ritz" crackers (they're from Trader Joes, but I call them Ritz cuz that's what they taste like) and I ask him if he wants me to slice cheese for his Ritz. To which he responds, "mommy, these are not Riss. These are actually circle crackers. And I want some white rectangle cheese for them". |

LOL...here's Kiersten's language surprise for the day... I work from home and some days, like today, I work in my jammies. I'm getting ready to go pick up the older kids from school and ask kiersten if she's ready...
"We cant go, your forgot to take a thower (she has a lisp), yow (you're) hayer (hair) is growdy!" |

| Virginia's language seems to be following the same path Attie's did. She is a total chatter box. I think it's an indication I talk too much, lol. I started a list last week of words she says and finally quit at 160. Since then I've noticed several more words added. She says three word sentences and signs a lot. I'm so grateful she's verbal. I think if she weren't she would be 10 times more difficult to handle than she already is. |

Nathan had a huge word explosion at 2. He was a late talker so didn't say much before that. But by 3 the boy literally would not stop talking in long sentences. |

Is she a feisty one? She sounds like a firecracker! My boys both seem to be similar in that they are quiet, observant, and talk late. Definitely aren't hard to handle because of late talking but if Aaron follows his brothers footsteps the firecracker in him won't come out until he's around 3. Aaron does have more "words" at 1 than Nate did. But he has not had any sort of language explosion yet. |
