Susan, it's so great to see you here! I love this post. It took an unexpected turn... I thought you'd call Denise a "ditz" and move on. But no. I can always count on you to be thoughtful.I hear you about those single dads! Bring them on!
I no longer have cable... but I did catch that single dad on the Bachelorette last night. He introduced his little boy to the Bachelorette last night (and no one in the media is up in arms?). They fed the ducks together... He called all the ducks "Ted." Will he be The One? Did you see it?

Single Mom Seeking: thankfully I did not see the Bachelorette or the guy introducing his son to her.And why not call all the ducks "Bill"?! It makes more sense!

Nice post. I think it's great you found common ground with Denise Richards. We probably hold celebrities up to the light for the very reason that there are similarities to be had. With so much going right for them, we feel entitled to magnify their weaknesses when we find them. But compassion arises when you tap into the sameness we all share - that we all don't want to suffer. (Or at least don't want to swear like sailors in front of the kids)9. Madhu B. Wangu

Susan, congratulations for beginning a wonderful venture!Although I am a perfect parent--stranger to the things you write about (!)--I loved your thoughtful and humorous take on single mother parenthood.
More inner power to you!
