I absolutely agree with your article! Parents just have to learn to say NO! Children have this funny little way of geting on moms' and dads' nerves at the most inappropriate times. But you just gotta say no! Is it Viacom's fault that you can't stand to see your little baby throw themselves on the grocery store floor?
Look, I know it hurts , but we have to stop trying to be our kids' best friend! Moms and dads say no. That's what we do! We have to say no, because their brains are still developing and don't know how to tell themselves no. They don't know right from wrong yet. Kids need a solid line between friends and parents. All of these parents who just indulge their kids and let them do whatever they please, in hopes that they'll be the "cool mom", are only destroying their relashionship with them, instead. You have to tell them no, because if you give them anything they want, one day a situation will arise where an absolute "no" is needed (drugs, drinking, danger)and your kids will not understand why. They'll be mad! They'll do it anyway, because you're such a softie!
My 5 year old asked me if he could trick-or-treat alone this year. I said absolutely not. "You always say no. Man!" I said "I know. It's because I love you so much!"

Exactly! When I saw this story in the newspaper, I realized the world is nuttier than I ever imagined. Well done.
Regarding Allison's post: You're exactly right about those "cool" parents. Be prepared for them. You aren't going to believe what they'll allow their children to do as teens.
I have a teenage girl, and was shocked to discover a mother, I thought I knew well, let my daughter have a beer when she spent the night.
Months after the incident, I found out. And do you know what this mother said to me? The most annoying phrase: "Ya know, they're (the kids) are gonna do it anwyay."
So the genious gives the kids beer.
And my daughter wonders why I have to talk to the parents... to do my best to discover the nut jobs.
Amen! This is a ridiculous lawsuit - so many people are just too lazy to take responsibility for their own actions and make choices that are difficult. What is the world coming to??
