Stick a Fork in It

Ten technological marvels that help me ignore my kids.

By Brandy Stoner

We all need our "me" time, so thank goodness for those little things in life that help ease our worries about what our children are doing when we are not looking. This writer has a hilarious spin on these things and a refreshing look into some of the things that we may not all think about without provocation. We need to hear more from her!

I agree about needing to see more from this writer. There is absolutely no way in which she could have made any sentence, any paragraph, and any phrase any more hilarious than it is here. She's acheived writing perfection. Funniest darn thing I've read in a long long long time.

I received a funny e-mail from the Danish inventor of the EdisonSalvo socket mentioned in this article, with some info about their product, and wanted to share some of the content with readers.

1. The socket IS, in fact, shock-proof, but it is NOT water-resistant NOR tamper-proof. The product is described as "shock-resistant" in company literature, because if the socket (which is actually a lamp socket and not an electrical socket - was not clear in news release) is immersed, disassembled with tools, or drooled on excessively for a long time, it WILL shock somebody!

2. The company makes this distinction because the EdisonSalvo socket will be marketed in the USA, as well as Europe. Ours tends to be a litigious society, and they don't want to be sued because some guy "in good faith" has "grilled his mother-in-law by dropping a lamp in the bathtub with her." (Yes...that's a quote.)

3. Did you know that until now, ZERO improvements have been made on lamp sockets in 130 years?!? Wow. Random factoid...

4. European power sockets/outlets have twice the power as those in the U.S. of A. I have been offered dinner if I would stick my finger in a European outlet - twice. So...the mindless entertainment mentioned in paragraph 1 - NOT recommended across the pond. Unless you want to sip your dinner through a straw.
