Itchy & Scratchy

or Ten Things I've Learned About Head Lice

By Eileen Flanagan

Oh, such a true story! I have never heard of the treatment you spoke of and we don't have that particular store in our area but it sounds wonderful. I sure wish that someone in our area carried it!

Oh, and by the way, after you treat with whatever you use, wash the child's head with dawn dishwashing detergent (it helps make the eggs release) and comb the hair with the detergent still in it. Then use a conditioner and comb the hair with that in it before you rinse because that too, will help with the release.

4. Surely you mean lice prefer *clean* hair?

And a friend who's a travelling nurse who goes around schools de-lousing children tells me that the very best thing is to wash the hair, then put *lots* of conditioner in, and fine-comb it out, and repeat every day for 10 days.
