I am also a donutaholic AND a big fan of your Midwest Wit & Wisdom! When is your next book coming out?

The "obesity epidemic" (epidemic is so not the proper scientific word to begin with) is mostly hysteria and bad reporting on junk science; even more so with childhood obesity.

At any rate, so long as you help your children recognize their own body cues - to eat when they're hungry, eat what they're hungry for, and eat until they're comfortably satisfied, you'll raise healthy, happy children who will be resistant to eating disorders - whether or not they are naturally thin or fat. And naturally encourage exercise - not that kids need much encouragement to be active :)

For a wonderful, commonsense, nonhysterical approach to feeding kids, try this, I can't recommend it enough: http://www.ellynsatter.com/

You're doing fine. And enjoy your donuts :)
