The blonde bombshell made a sneak attack on our playroom.

I really enjoyed your article and I can relate on many levels. As a barbie fan as a kid I remember my older sister not really being interested, but I would spend hours playing with the barbies and kens- creating elaborate stories of romance and adventure as they travelled around the house.
I have grown up to be a careerwoman, happily married and now have a 4 year old boy and a little girl on the way soon. I have been thinking a lot about the changes that will happen in our house with a little girl in it- I have already sent out the e-mail request that our friends and family not give us anything pink, but my mom says- "fat chance!"
Will we drown in a tide of pink clothes and toys? Will there be barbie dolls, make-up and princesss dresses everywhere? I asked these questions to my 4 year old son and his eyes lit up as he said, "Wouldn't that be GREAT!"
He is always fascinated when around at friends houses who have little girls and all the toys and dress-up stuff that he has never been given. I think the next few years will be an adventure for us all.
I really like the honest and adaptive way you have dealt with an issue you were worried about, it takes a lot of confidence in parenting to accept things and go with the flow like that.
